Why Choose a Prosthodontist?

When it comes to restoring your smile, not all dentists bring the same level of training or perspective. A prosthodontist is a dental specialist trained to restore function, aesthetics, and harmony for complex or long-term cases.

I was voted best smile in my school last year and that couldn't have been possible without the confidence Dr. Ro has given me. When my mom was looking for a dentist who specialized in replacement teeth for me in 2008, a reputable oral surgeon recommended the best: Dr. Ro. I first came to her when I was 7, and I can't remember ever dreading going to the dentist. I knew I was in the best hands when I saw Dr. Ro be a perfectionist with my prosthetic teeth. She watched me grow up and I sincerely think that she treats her patients as she would her family. Now, as an adult, I realize I have been spoiled with this level of care and can't imagine going to anyone else!

I'm very pleased to have you as my dentist. The first time we met was over 25 years ago in Queens. Your passion, attention to detail, and clear care gave me confidence to choose you as my dentist then. Today, I'm very proud to say I'm still one of your patients, and very pleased to see you have continued with the same respect towards clients, consideration, care and detail for your work. I smile. Thank you for being you.

After moving to Manhattan in 1996, I tried a few different dentists and then found Dr. Ro, who at that time was just starting out. I never had to look again. She is absolutely the best dentist I’ve seen and I’ve seen many. She’s highly professional, patient, competent, and always up to date with the latest dental machinery and advanced techniques. She’s a perfectionist and once returned a crown to the lab three times until satisfied with the color and fit [she now has her own milling equipment]. It’s no surprise that she’s built a very successful practice in Chelsea over the past several decades with many satisfied patients.

I feel lucky beyond belief to be Dr. Ro's patient. I have gone through three dentists in the past four years and Dr. Ro is the first one to really listen to my issues and solve them in a creative way all while treating me with the utmost kindness and compassion. I was so impressed with Dr. Ro that I brought my 11 year old daughter to see her, too. One of her adult teeth was too skinny and made her feel self conscious about her smile. In one session, Dr. Ro fixed it and now my daughter literally cannot stop smiling. What a confidence boost. Anytime I hear a friend complain about their dentist, I tell them to see Dr. Ro. She goes above and beyond for her patients.

Rachel S.

As a patient of Dr. Ro for 10+ years, I know her to be a first rate doctor and compassionate professional. The level of excellence and attention to detail is throughout. Her office is warm, immaculate, and welcoming. Her staff is well-trained and courteous. More importantly, she is all about your well-being and not the bottom line, unlike some who would not hesitate to upsell unnecessary procedures. She has refused aesthetic procedures that she felt would be detrimental to my dental health. I place the utmost confidence in her judgment and care.

Patient S.

Of the many medical professionals I see in New York, Dr. Ro stands out as the finest. She has been my dentist for 20+ years, and in that time, my oral health has gotten stronger, and my smile has gotten prettier. Dr. Ro possesses a rare combination of uncompromising perfectionism and human warmth and humor. She is so precise about the work she produces. Everything always fits just right, every time. Dr. Ro is also one of the kindest doctors. She is exceptional by any metric you care to use.

“Dr. Emily Ro is truly an artist and the attention to detail and care that she gave to my veneers is so appreciated.”

During a routine check-up, I had mentioned to Dr. Ro that I was thinking of going to Brazil to have a mouth-full of veneers put in. She gently explained to me that I really only need 4 front teeth replaced for the desired effect, so going through all of the pain for an entire mouth of teeth would be unnecessary. I’d been coming to Dr. Ro for almost a decade and didn’t realize she specializes in veneers. I am so grateful that I listened to her advice.

It ended up being the most perfect solution and I am thrilled. The best part about doing veneers locally instead of traveling out of the country, you can swing by if you ever need an adjustment. I am an actor, and a few days before my scheduled veneer installation date, I booked a major TV role. Dr. Ro’s team scrambled to adjust schedules to get me in and done (after-hours) so that I would look fine for filming the next day. Thank you Dr. Ro!

From crowns and bridges to veneers, implants, and full-mouth reconstruction, prosthodontists don’t just fix—they rebuild with purpose.

No referral needed. You can schedule a consultation directly with our team.

We understand how frustrating that can be. That’s exactly why we’ve gone through additional training to get it right for you. Our team specializes in correcting and rebuilding previous dental work with a careful, compassionate approach. We are happy to evaluate your current condition and make recommendations with the best possible prognosis in mind. We always consider what we would do for our own families if they were in the same situation.

It depends on the complexity but we’ll let you know exactly what you can expect as part of your consultation. Some services, like single crowns and onlays can be planned for one day appointments thanks to our in-house lab. Other more complex treatments will require sequencing and can take several weeks to several months. A thorough assessment will be made and treatment recommendations will include estimated treatment sequencing which will be reviewed in detail.

Although we offer comprehensive cosmetic treatments, prosthodontics takes it a step further. While the results are beautiful, prosthodontics restore function, comfort, and harmony to your bite so you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

More than slapping on big white teeth, our focus is on long-term health: protecting your natural teeth, preventing future issues, and designing restorations that feel as good as they look. Simply put, it’s about rebuilding your quality of life, not just your smile.
